In the film adaptation of Dr. Seuss's The Lorax, the walled town of Thneedville has no living plants. Mayor Aloysius O'Hare owns the company that sells bottled air to residents. Because trees produce clean air for free, O'Hare profits from a treeless town, and he uses his political authority and security forces to suppress any attempt to grow them. The Lorax is a guardian who speaks for the trees and wants them restored. Individual campaigning means the Lorax directly petitions, persuades, and pressures O'Hare to change course, for example through moral appeals, public disclosure of his conduct aimed at changing his decision, and negotiation, while O'Hare remains in power. Revolution means the Lorax organizes and mobilizes citizens to remove O'Hare from power through mass resistance and to replace his authority over the town and its air supply
